FAQs

What does the GLA:D Program Cost?

Will this be covered by Private Health Insurance/Medicare?

The GLA:D Package costs $660. This is inclusive of the initial and follow-up assessments, group classes and education sessions. Flexible packages will be offered if you are not able to fulfill the program.

If you have eligible cover for Physiotherapy with your private health insurer, then you will be able to claim for these sessions using codes (500, 505 and 560). We can also accept Medicare EPCs from your GP.

How many people are in each class?

Should I have a knee or hip replacement?

In order to deliver quality care, we have a maximum of 3 participants in each class.

This is a complex question to answer, as each patient is different. All health professionals generally recommend a period of conservative management (e.g. the GLA:D Program) prior to surgical interventions. The evidence from the GLA:D Program shows that 2 out of 3 people which were going to undergo surgery decided not to have surgery after the GLA:D Program due to the improvements in function and quality of life.

What happens if I want to continue beyond the 6-week program?

How can I get started?

Many people enjoy the GLA:D sessions and wish to continue past the 6-week period. We welcome patients to continue the program, and this can be booked casually or ongoing at our standard class rate.
